Like a bunch of school boys eager for the peep show

Now before my female roommate left the house to go have her own girls night, she posted some explicit instructions on her door.

So what do kids normally do when parents tell them not to do something? You do exactly the opposite, so we made our Canadian Ballet Dancers dress up in her clothes and prance around her room while the boys rolled around in her bed.

Now the night was going great, and by this time the party had moved into the basement where we were enjoying the live entertainment. However one of the guys came downstairs with a note he found on the kitchen table. Now my memory is fuzzy so hopefully someone can remind me what it said but it was something along the lines of “You just got punked”. Now at the time I was living in Amherst, NY the safest city in America. I never locked my doors, sometimes when I come home and my door is locked I would panic and think the burglar was still inside and simply locked us all out. Anyways, so my roommate was having her girls night out and they decided to come back to the house and prank us by stealing a single pair of every guy’s shoe (I guesstimate they made off with about 20 shoes) and run off into the night with it. By then the night turned into guys putting on mismatching shoes and running out into the night in alcohol fueled rage to find the girls and reclaim their missing shoe. The best part was they also stole the stripper’s shoes as well. How they thought guys wear clear plastic 6 inch heels is beyond me, and yes there is nothing more awkward then sitting around with two fully clothed strippers, chit chatting, and assuring them we will find their shoes and get it back to them.

Now obviously the roommate knows there’s gonna be retribution seeing as how her very own room was in the house she just committed the crimes against. So someone rewired her AIM (yes AOL Instant Messenger, it was the rage back then) so that every time someone instant messaged her it would say something like “I’m a stupid girl” (trying to keep this PG-13) . She also got her underwear and bras basically thrown around the house (Mhm, I do kind of feel bad about that one now). The guys eventually found the apartment where the shoes were hidden, and it was actually kind of funny because the girls tied all the laces together pretty tightly and formed a long train of shoes around the living room. I kind of wish I had a photo of that. What was probably not funny to them was the guys basically destroyed the apartment, they moved the kitchen table/chairs into the bathroom and setup the dining table there, stole all the light bulbs, change all the clocks for 5am wake up, and probably stole/broke/rewired a whole bunch of other things so it never worked after that.

It was an Epic night. I mean, I have to give it to the girls, they just pulled off a classic prank on us. On the day I moved out of that house two years later, we found more bras and underwear hidden behind the sofa. I miss the college days.

Chocolate Covered Ants

With 2010 winding to a close, some friends of mine decided to have a secret santa exchange on New years eve. One of the gifts my Secret Santa got me was Chocolate Covered Ants, since I guess she saw this list and got me this gift to help me scratch off another item before the year is over.

Crunchy Ants

All you can really taste is the chocolate flavor with the crunchy texture. After the chocolate is all done you’re going to be picking gritty pieces of ants out of your teeth and you will definitely keep tasting random bits of ants afterward.  The ants don’t add any flavor it’s more of a childlike gimmick. The western civilization’s thoughts of eating insects as something very disgusting.

However the more recent Trophy, and the largest I ever have gotten is for playing Softball. This was one of the most rewarding experiences because it took a lot of practice, hard work, and overall team effort all culminating in a dominating win. This was a one day tournament where we woke up at 5am in the morning and played until 7pm where we were victorious with a perfect record not losing to a single team and even involved a walk off win against a team.

Most people get Lasik Surgery for the perfect vision so they don’t have to deal with contacts or glasses anymore, For me I got it so I can shoot lasers out of my eyes. Yeah……frickin laser beams.

One of my goals is to run a Marathon. It’s simpler said than done. To achieve something like this takes dedication, discipline and a change of lifestyle (eat well, drink less, and sleep more). I figure by attempting to do the Marathon it will help me with every other aspect of my life incidentally such as Focus, Resolve, Discipline, and hard work as well as it’s simply good for your health.

I wasn’t planning on doing it this year as I never ran before in my life but I was telling a friend about this goal, and the very next day they sent me a link to the Half Marathon and the Full Marathon and said…here’s the registration link, get started. At first I wanted to protest and say not this year, or I haven’t trained etc. but in the end they are all excuses, so I said sure and signed up for both. I was immediately selected in the lottery system for the Half Marathon in January with the race scheduled for March 21st 2010. I followed Hal Higdon’s 12 week Half Marathon training course for Novices with Danny Dreyer’s Chi Running Technique for Injury free running.

The day before the Half Marathon race I had to attend a wedding for a good friend of 20 years, we practically grew up together. It probably wasn’t smart for me to stay until 2am with my race at 7:30am with a 5am wake up because of travel time). Never the less I ran, and what seemed like an insurmountable goal before the race, and during the race, was overcome and it was one of the greatest feelings in my life. This goes to show you that anyone with training can run at least the Half Marathon as I am proof itself. I highly encourage everyone to do this. It’s such a feeling of high when accomplishing something like this and I know I will continue to make running part of my life.

Now that I got the Half Marathon out of the way. I am crossing my fingers to get selected in the lottery system for the November Full Marathon and accomplish goal #86 of mine.

April 2010:

Well I got rejected from the 2010 NYC Marathon so I will have to either get in by raising $2500 for charity or do 9 qualified races and volunteer for 1 event. So I chose the latter. I also decide to run all 5 boroughs for the Half Marathons

December 2010:

Well I have completed my 9+1 should I should be gauranteed for the Marathon in 2011. This goal is taking longer than expected as it’s going to take me 2 years of training to accomplish this.

What the Northern Lights Should look like.

Thanks to the recession and all three of the Iceland’s major banks following their difficulties in refinancing their short-term debt and a run on deposits in the United Kingdom, Iceland’s economy was in ruin, and their national currency pretty much useless with inflation…..thus this made a trip to Iceland very affordable and extremely cheap. So thus I jumped in with a group of friends who happen to be going to Iceland during superbowl weekend, they were going for leisure, I primarily went to see if I can chase down the Northern Lights.

We went in February which is prime time for viewing the Northern Lights. In Iceland the prime time is December through March. However since I was only there for a short weekend, I had to hope for Clear Skies, No Full Moon, and Solar Emissions/Flares from the Sun in order to create the perfect conditions for the Northern lights to appear, and be visible to the naked eye.

As luck would have it, the NASA website was reporting Solar Flares and we had clear skies and No Moon. However the best we saw was what looked like Faint White Clouds in the middle of a pitch black sky. By using a 60 second time lapse with a Hybrid SLR camera we were able to confirm that it was the Northern Lights we were looking at.

We thought that’s all there was to it, and all the brilliant photos we saw on the internet was all time lapse photography that created the brilliant hues of colors. However when we asked around we found out that the Northern Lights were very weak that night and to see the true northern lights you would’ve been blown away, inspired, and be in awe of it, if we didn’t experience that sensation then we didn’t see it.
The trip itself was a great time, and I did a lot in Iceland even though we didn’t truly see the Northern Lights in all it’s glory, So with that said, I am penciling this off my list, however I will still actively chase the Northern Lights and attempt to see it in all it’s full blown glory somewhere else in the world.

I fired my first handgun ever in January of 2009 in Seoul, Korea no less. Yes I know it be better had I exercised my 2nd amendment rights in America.

I went to an indoor amusement park called Lotte World. And by sheer coincidence they had a gun range there so without thinking I plopped down my money, signed the waiver claim and there I fired a Beretta 92 FS 9 millimeter handgun.

The second part of the book talks about getting a high score and hitting your targets properly. I want to say I’m not the best shots as you can see my bulllets were a bit low (you know gravity at 9.8 meters squared was the culprit). But then again, as Snoop and Chris taught me, in case “they be wearing armor” you gotta go for the groin, the legs, or the headshot”

As far as Skeet Shooting, I did this in August of 2009. Me and some buddies decided to do a “man day”. Instead of hitting a golf course, we decided to go fire off some guns instead. This is when I fired my first shotgun and hit moving targets.
